Patti Limperes Bio

About Patti Limperes

ISLAND WAVES was created from the dream of the youth who believed in the powerful impact of strength in numbers to make positive change. They originated from a family island in the Bahamas called Abaco.

Back in the mid 1970's, the idea of unity despite color, race, or social status was planted in the community, the youth events were nourished with love and creativity, and grew as families came together and embraced their natural given talents with the direction of a young lady named Patti Limperes. Patti was a math and music teacher at Abaco Central High School back when the school was located in Spring City. By the 80's, the school had transferred to a settlement called Murphy Town.

She taught there as a music, math, and p.e. teacher until she passed away from breast cancer at the age of 38.  Although she was greatly missed, she left behind an impact in the community so great that her past students, their children and grandchildren, her fellow teachers, and individuals in the community have once again come together to rekindle the fire that remained simmering in so many souls ...

For those of you who knew her, and for those whose lives she is just now entering , let's all take a moment and reflect on what has just been shared, and prepare to enter a world of empowerment!

"Light up A Corner. That alone can change the world. Just be clear where you are."
